Tina Maltese Gio, LCSW | Thought Space Counseling in Illinois

Hi, I'm Tina.

Mom.  Wife.  Daughter.  Sister.  Friend.

We all have multiple roles we play in our lives every single day.  I know how overwhelming and stressful it is to balance it all and be present in all of your relationships.  As I’ve gone through my own journey of navigating judgement, carrying the mental load and feeling the responsibility to be everything to everyone, I’ve realized that I can’t do it all, and frankly, neither can anyone else.  Being able to let go of some of that need to have it all together helped me to see things differently, not only in myself but in other people, and find ways to be present in the moment and there in the ways that matter.

I focus my work from a client centered perspective.  My work has a cognitive behavioral focus through a trauma informed lens.  Working together, I will help you face the anxieties, fears and past traumas that are keeping you from being the person you want to be. Together, we will build skills to help you be more present and feel like a more confident and capable parent, friend, sister, etc.  We will work to undo some of the behaviors that make you feel bad and move toward building habits that bring you feelings of joy and excitement.
